Country Critters has been serving the Tri Lakes area since 1991, when I first opened my shop attached to my home in the Pine Hills area of Monument, CO. In October of 2007, I felt it was time to expand, so I opened Country Critters Uptown in the West End Center off of Hwy 105 between Monument and Palmer Lake. I offer a full line of services plus all natural pet foods, treats, toys, clothing, grooming tools, leashes and collars, odor eating enzyme scented candles and sprays, plus gifts for you and your pet.
My personal grooming history began in 1969, when I got my first English Setter show dog. I learned from top breeders and handlers in Calif, the art of hand-stripping and scissor finish work on sporting breeds. I then went to the Valley Vocational Grooming School to learn grooming techniques on other breeds. Later I apprenticed under a top Poodle and Bichon groomer before I opened my first shop in Calif, called Cambria Country Critters.
I have, at present, finished 70 champion English Cocker Spaniels and am still active in breeding and showing this wonderful breed under the Star-Vue prefix. I have also bred over a dozen English Setter champions as well, but am no longer active in that breed.
I have competed in grooming shows and have taken home the top honors in technical and breed profile work. I have also trained groomers who have won Best New Groomer and Best in the Sporting Group honors. I am a true believer in continuing education and attend seminars giving by leaders in our field at every opportunity. I am a certified Master Groomer by the National Dog Groomers Association of America for all Sporting and Non-Sporting breeds. I do hand-stripping and scissor finishes. At present I employ 2 other groomers. AJ WHO IS OUR large dog specialists and Sheliah who is a NDGAA certified master groomer who specializes in poodles, terriers, and let's make 'em cute trims.
I strive to give you and your pet the best experience in the Tri-Lakes area in our safe, clean, friendly, and stress-free environment.
